Sunday Forum: 10:45 am
How to Use The Lutheran Study Bible
February 21 — March 28

[The Lutheran Study Bible]In 2009 the first English-language, all-Lutheran study Bibles were published in the US and about one-third of Zion's active worshipers have purchased copies of The Lutheran Study Bible, published by Concordia Publishing House. This new Bible is the first in English to be developed from the ground-up with notes that are distinctively Lutheran, prepared by Lutheran theologians and pastors from over twenty Lutheran church bodies. Current Lutheran scholarship, insights from the Church Fathers, and rich devotional commentary provides meaningful perspective for both young and mature Christians.

How to Use The Lutheran Study Bible will guide you into using the many features and tools in The Lutheran Study Bible, whether you have never read and studied the Bible before or have read and studied the Bible daily for years, The sessions are designed for youth and adults and assume no knowledge of the Bible. Bring your own study Bible or use one of those we have in Zion's Library.

Sunday Forum sessions meet following worship and fellowship in the Upper Parish Hall at about 10:45 am.

Via de Cristo
(The Way of Christ)

[Ultreya!]Several Zionites (including Pastor Tibbetts) participate in the Heart of Illinois Via de Cristo, which begins with a highly-structured 3-day weekend (Thursday evening through Sunday evening) designed to strengthen and renew your Christian faith and bring you to a new awareness of living the rest of your life (the "Fourth Day") in God's grace. A combined effort of lay people and clergy toward renewal of the church, Via de Cristo is a Lutheran expression of the Catholic Cursillo movement. Here in the Heart of Illinois, Via de Cristo is open to any adult Christian.

The Heart of Illinois Via de Cristo offers 2 sets of weekends — one for men followed by one the next week for women — each year at East Bay Camp, Lake Bloomington, Illinois, in April and October. The Spring 2010 weekends will be April 15-18 for men and April 22-25 for women. Please contact the Heart of Illinois Via De Cristo or click this national Via de Cristo link to learn about the movement near you.
