Project Return Partnership Team Volunteer Commitment
PRAY — for the Partnership Team, oversight committee, and Participant
Attend 30 hour of initial training
1 year Partnership Team commitment which includes:
- Attend monthly Partnership Team meetings
- Take assigned turns as weekly contact person
- Carry out agreed-upon commitments to assist the Participant
- Attend monthly supervision meetings
- Attend quarterly continuing education events
- Adhere to Project Return's Code of Ethics and guidelines
- Make and effort to attend and/or otherwise support Project Return's fundraising, education, and publicity events.
Project Return Partnership Team Leader Commitment
- Fulfill all the Partnership Team volunteer requirements
- In addition:
- Lead monthly Partnership Team meeting
- Assign weekly contact person
- Be the contact person for the Director to check-in with periodically during the month to check on progress and issues.
Project Return Partnership Team Volunteer Job Description
Project Return Partnership Team volunteers:
- Partner with a mother returning from prison to the Peoria area for one year.
- Partnering with a returning mother includes:
- Meeting with her before she leaves prison to create a covenant with includes short-term and long-term goals in the following life areas: housing, employment, counseling, finances, family relationships, spiritual issues, education, child care, transportation, and any other area the mother believes important to her successful transition.
- Assisting the returning mother in achieving the agreed-upon goals using the community, congregational, and Project Return resources available.
- Helping the returning mother to periodically review and revise her goals as they are met or otherwise become unnecessary.
- Providing support and encouragement as partner, ally, and advocate for the returning mother as she makes the transition back into the community.
- Provide feedback to Project Return staff and oversight committee regarding the Project Return process and model.
Project Return Training Schedule
30 hours of training
At least 8 weeks
Configured to meet volunteer group's scheduleTraining:
Week 1 = Theology of Re-entry / Restorative Justice / Advocacy (3 hours)
Week 2 = Criminal Justice System / Criminal Thinking / Effects of Incarceration (3 hours)
Week 3 = Boundaries / Co-dependency (3 hours)
Week 4 = Code of Ethics (3 hours)
Week 5 = Diversity Training (3 hours)
Week 6 = Interpersonal Violence / Abuse (3 hours)
Week 7 = Substance Abuse / Addictions (3 hours)
Week 8 = Project Return Model #1 (3 hours)
Week 9 = Project Return Model #2 (3 hours)
(Project Return Model can be done as one 6-hour session)Commissioning Service at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church service.
Continuing Education Events
One each quarter - topics suggested by Team, Director, or oversight committee.
