Over 50 area churches have responded to Mayor Ardis' call to participate in 40 Days of Prayer for the city beginning New Year's Eve, December 31st and ending February 8th. First United Methodist Church's facilities will be used for these public times of prayer.

All services will begin at 6:00 p.m. Each Monday through Friday they will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Peoria, 700 Main Street Auditorium (corner of Main and Perry). On Saturday and Sunday evenings they will be held at our 116 NE Perry Avenue building. Free parking is available next to both buildings.

The Prophet Jeremiah wrote:

"This is what the Lord Almighty says ". . . seek the peace and prosperity of the city . . Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." (Jeremiah 29:7)

And Oswald Chambers wrote in My Utmost for His Highest:

"Prayer does not prepare us for the greater work. Prayer is the greater work."
